Freight companies experience more challenges when delivering to non-commercial locations due to the size of their trucks/trailers. A residential address is classified as an address that is in a residential zone, difficult to access, and may not have equipment for unloading a pallet.
Similarly, areas with limited access such as one-way streets, small parking lots and busy streets with limited unloading capabilities can cause challenges when delivering. Carriers will make accommodations and deliver in a smaller trailer to residential and limited access areas when necessary, resulting in additional service fees.
Please make sure to communicate this on our freight questionnaire.
A lift-gate is a tool used to raise or lower pallets from a trailer. If your delivery location does not have a loading dock or fork-lift, you will need a lift-gate to remove the pallet (extra fees applies).
